Offering a safe and comforting home-like day* refuge located within one block of the Winnipeg Provincial Law Courts for victims, survivors, and loved ones attending court proceedings and justice system related appointments
Space will be available for one to two families during the day, with access based on referrals through collateral organizations and agencies only.
Priority will be given to families who have lost a loved one, but Candace House will work closely with other victim service agencies and organizations to ensure space and support is provided to as many as possible.
The Healing Haven will offer a place to take break, debrief, or prepare and eat a meal or snack in a setting of privacy and confidentiality, and surrounded by warmth and care. Features will include:
A living room, a soothing place to talk or rest
A dining room and kitchen for guests to prepare and eat meals together
A washroom with face towels and disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste
A meeting room to speak quietly with support staff
Welcoming and diverse artwork and decor
Proper ventiliation for smudging or lighting of candles and incense
*Please note that no overnight services or self-referrals will be available for the Healing Haven.
