Absolutely central to fulfilling our mission is a location within very close proximity to the Winnipeg Provincial Law Courts, and we’ve found it!
Just two minutes away from the doors of the Winnipeg Provincial Law Courts, this location is a main floor, private entry, physically accessible space.
Design and construction planning is currently underway to transform this facility into a safe place, and to begin offering services by fall of this year.

What is Candace House?
Candace House is working to provide a safe and comforting day refuge within one block of the Winnipeg Provincial Law Courts for victims of crime who are navigating the court process and criminal justice system.
Working collaboratively with partners, Candace House aims to also increase access to holistic and culturally appropriate resources and referrals, as well as victim support services.
In November of1984, Wilma and Cliff Derksen’s 13-year-old daughter, Candace, went missing on her way home from school in Winnipeg, Canada, sparking one of Winnipeg’s largest searches for a missing person. Six and a half weeks later, Candace’s body was found in a shack not far from the Derksen home, her hands and feet bound. Nothing could have prepared the Derksen's for this life-changing experience.
