"Why do victims need a place? Because everyone needs a place. There is nothing more secure, grounding, and healing than being connected to a place." -Wilma Derksen

Just two minutes away from the doors of the Winnipeg Law Courts, Suite 1B at 183 Kennedy Street, this location is a main floor, private entry, physically accessible space. The close proximity to the courts central to fulfilling our mission.

Design and construction planning is currently underway to transform this facility into a safe place, and to begin offering services later this year.

What is Candace House?

Candace House is working to provide a safe and comforting day refuge within one block of the Winnipeg Provincial Law Courts for victims of crime who are navigating the court process and criminal justice system.

Working collaboratively with partners, Candace House aims to also increase access to holistic and culturally appropriate resources and referrals, as well as victim support services.
